Justice for Your Wallet - Week 3

Welcome back to another week of the 'Justice for Your Wallet' money challenge!

If you've been following our daily tips on the #JusticeForYourWallet broadcast channel on Instagram, you know the drill: a daily money-saving tip coupled with a poll to gauge our collective financial vibe. It's been a journey filled with insights, laughs, and some unexpected gems.

Just as in the first two weeks, I'll be recapping these daily tips and sharing my insights. The #JusticeForYourWallet adventure is only gaining momentum—let's dive into Week 3! 💰✨

Tip: POTLUCK TO SAVE A BUCK

Try a monthly themed potluck with family or friends instead of dining out. Everyone will save money, exchange recipes, and have a great time.

My Rating: Like It

This sounds like a win-win opportunity. You get to spend quality time with your friends, and if everyone contributes, the hosting responsibilities aren’t left on one person alone.

Tip: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY

Libraries are gold mines of free entertainment, such as classes, e-books, and audiobooks. Some libraries even allow you to borrow items such as tools and sewing machines!

My Rating: Love It

Last year, I signed up for a library card to take advantage of ebooks and audiobooks from the Libby app. I technically have not successfully read a book from there, but this is a great tip nonetheless.

Tip: ONLY USE THE ATMS OF YOUR BANK OR CREDIT UNION

Using the ATM of another financial institution once a week might seem like no big deal, but it can cost you up to $3 for each withdrawal, which is more than $150 over the course of a year.

My Rating: Love It

I really do not enjoy any type of bank fee, so I am 100% here for this tip. I recently did not have a choice but to use an ATM on one occasion. The ATM itself charged me $2.25 and then my bank charged me $1.50 so a total of $3.75 just to get access to my own money.

Tip: CHEAPER NIGHTS OUT

Bars and restaurants can really strain your finances. Try less expensive alternatives, such as board game night or card game night, with your friends.

My Rating: Like It

We all know that being outside is expensive!!! Board game nights are a super fun way to spend time with friends, and if everyone brings a little something to share, it will work out cheaper for everyone.

Tip: UNSUBSCRIBE

Avoid temptation by unsubscribing from marketing emails and texts from the stores where you spend the most money.

My Rating: Like It

This tip is for you if you’re someone who’s easily influenced by a sale!

Tip: USE LESS WATER

Install low-flow showerheads and faucet derators to reduce your water usage and water costs.

My Rating: Neutral

This is a new concept to me, so I really do not know enough about it to make a comment. If it’s something that works, then that’s cool. I don’t think I’d ever take the time to set it up though.

Tip: TRAVEL TIP

Rent cars near—not at—the airport and take a shuttle bus. Airport car rental agencies might charge at least $10 to $15 extra just for convenience.

My Rating: Love It

Most of the time, when I travel, I rent a car from Turo or from a location other than the airport. I typically pick it up the next day following the start of my trip, unless I absolutely need it the first day.

And there you have it, a wrap-up of Week 3 in our 'Justice for Your Wallet' adventure! 🎉
